Topic clusters

Group documents by topic and see how much of each topic is live.

A topic cluster groups the documents you write about one subject, like "Headless CMS", and shows how much of it is live. It's the easiest way to see where your coverage is strong and where the gaps are.

What's in a cluster#

  • Name: the topic, like "Headless CMS". Each name is unique in the project, ignoring upper and lower case.
  • Keywords: the search phrases the topic should cover.
  • Description: what the cluster covers and who it's for.
  • Documents: everything you've put in the cluster, from ideas to published pages.

Each cluster shows its progress, like "3 of 8 published". The progress bar has a segment per document in its status color, so you can see at a glance what's still an idea and what's live.

Create a cluster#

  1. Choose Clusters in the sidebar.
  2. Choose New cluster.
  3. Give it a name, add some keywords and write a short description.
  4. Choose Create.

To add a keyword, type it and press Enter or type a comma. Each keyword can be up to 100 characters.

Tip: You can also create a cluster on the spot. In a document's details panel or on a brief, open the Cluster picker and choose New cluster.

Add documents to a cluster#

Pick a Cluster in the document's details panel, or on its brief. A document belongs to at most one cluster.

Edit a cluster#

  1. On the Clusters page, open a cluster's actions menu and choose Edit cluster.
  2. Change the name, keywords or description. Changes save as you go.

The cluster page also lists its documents with their statuses, so it doubles as a to-do list for the topic.

Delete a cluster#

Choose Delete cluster in the cluster's actions menu or on its page, and confirm.

Note: Deleting a cluster keeps its documents. They just won't belong to a cluster anymore.

A project can have up to 200 clusters.
