Drafts

Start new documents, ideas, clusters and categories in private, then create them when they're ready.

When you start something new in PMKIN, like a document, an idea, a cluster or a category, it begins as a private draft. You can fill it in at your own pace, and nobody else sees it until you choose Create.

Note: Don't mix this up with a document's draft content, the version you edit before publishing. That's covered in Scheduling and publishing. This page is about drafts of things that don't exist yet.

Why drafts?#

  • No half-finished clutter. Drafts don't show up in lists, on the planner or in the activity log, so your team only sees finished work.
  • Nothing gets lost. Drafts save as you type and never expire. Close the tab and come back next week.
  • Agents work the same way. An agent builds its draft step by step and creates it when it's ready.

Start a draft#

Choose New document, New idea, New cluster or New category. A draft page opens right away.

You choose You fill in
New document Title, status, assignee, category, cluster, due date and content
New idea The same, plus a brief. See Briefs and ideas.
New cluster Name, keywords and description
New category Name, slug, parent category and description

The header shows Saving…, Saved or Not saved so you always know where you stand.

Create it#

Choose Create at the bottom of the page.

PMKIN checks every field at once. If something's missing or invalid, nothing is created and each problem shows under its field, like "Another category already uses this slug. Pick a different one." Fix them and choose Create again.

When it works, you land on the new thing: a document opens in the editor, a cluster opens its page, and a category takes you to Categories.

Find your drafts#

  • Your drafts on Home lists your newest drafts.
  • The command palette (⌘K, or Ctrl+K) lists all of them under Drafts.

Drafts are private, so you only ever see your own.

Discard a draft#

  1. Choose Discard at the bottom of the draft page.
  2. Choose Discard draft to confirm.

Warning: A discarded draft is gone for good. You can't get it back.

The 100-draft limit#

You can have up to 100 unfinished drafts per project. Past that, you'll see "You have 100 unfinished drafts in this project. Finish or discard some before starting another."

Tip: If an agent keeps hitting the limit, ask it to discard the drafts it no longer needs.

For developers#

Agents and scripts create drafts with the intents API or MCP.
