Search Console
See which queries bring people to your site and what to write next.
Connect Google Search Console and PMKIN shows which queries bring people to your site, how each document ranks, and which keywords to plan next. PMKIN imports the data every day, so you never have to export a spreadsheet again.
Before you start#
- You need access to the site's property in Google Search Console.
- Each project has its own connection, so connect it once per project.
Connect it#
- Open Search in the project sidebar.
- Choose Connect Google Search Console.
- Sign in with the Google account that can see your site, and allow access.
- Back in PMKIN, pick the Property for this project.
- Fill in URL patterns so PMKIN knows where your documents live (see below).
- Choose Preview to check the patterns, then Save and import.
Tip: Don't see your site in the list? Choose Connect another Google account and sign in with the account that has access to the property.
URL patterns#
URL patterns match the pages on your site to your documents. Write one per line. Put {slug} where the document's slug goes, and * for any one path segment:
https://acme.com/blog/{slug}
https://acme.com/docs/*/{slug}
Preview tells you how many published documents matched, like "12 of 14 published documents matched", and names the ones without search data yet.
The first import#
After you save, the page shows Getting your search data ready with the steps as they finish. PMKIN fetches up to 16 months of clicks and impressions, which usually takes a few minutes. The page updates by itself when it's done, so feel free to go write something.
Read the Search page#
Once the data is in, Search compares the last 28 days with the 28 days before:
- Clicks, Impressions and Average position at the top, with a chart.
- Top queries: what people searched for.
- Top pages: which pages they landed on. Pages that don't match a document say "Not matched to a document".
- Close to page one: queries where you rank 8 to 20. People already search for these, so a better page could move them into the top results. Great material for your next brief.
The options menu at the top right has Import now and Change setup.
Search data in your documents#
- A published document's details panel shows Search, last 28 days with its clicks, impressions, position and top queries.
- The Keyword field in a brief suggests real queries from Search Console as you type.

Daily imports#
PMKIN imports new data from Search Console every day, and the Search page says when the last import ran. If an import fails, the page tells you what went wrong and when PMKIN tries again.
Warning: If Google access is revoked or expires, the Search page shows a banner with Reconnect. Until you reconnect, the numbers stay at the last import.
Change or disconnect#
Open Settings and find the Search Console section. It shows the Property, the Google account and who connected it, and the URL patterns.
- Choose Change to pick another property or edit the patterns.
- Choose Disconnect to remove the connection.
Warning: Disconnecting deletes the imported search data. You can connect again later, and PMKIN imports it fresh.
Agents can read it too#
Connected AI agents can read your search data: the summary, the top queries and pages, and how a single document performs. Ask one to find keywords worth a brief, or to check a page before it updates it. See Working with agents.
