Getting started

Quick start

Sign up, create a team and a project, and publish your first document in about five minutes.

Let's get your first document live. In about five minutes you'll have an account, a team, a project and a published document, ready for your website to fetch.

1. Sign up#

  1. Go to pmkin.io/sign-up.
  2. Choose Google, or enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters and choose Continue.
  3. If you signed up with email, open the email we send you and confirm your address.

2. Create a team#

A team is the group of people you work with. Even if it's just you, you need one.

  1. On the New Team page, type a name, like your company's.
  2. Choose Create team.

Tip: You can make more teams later with Create new team in the project menu at the top of the sidebar.

3. Create a project#

A project is one website or publication, with its own documents, categories and API keys.

  1. On the New Project page, name it after your site, like "Blog" or "Help center".
  2. Choose Create project.

PMKIN opens the project's Home page.

4. Write your first document#

  1. Choose New document at the top of Home or Documents. Or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K) and pick New document.
  2. Give it a title. You can set its status, assignee, category, cluster and due date here too, or leave them for later.
  3. Choose Create. The document opens in the editor.
  4. Write something. PMKIN saves as you type, so there's no save button to forget.

Note: Until you choose Create, the new document is a private draft only you can see. Changed your mind? Choose Discard.

5. Publish it#

  1. Choose Publish in the top-right corner of the editor.
  2. That's it. The button now reads Published.

The document needs a title to publish. If you haven't set a slug (the last part of its URL), PMKIN makes one from the title. You can change it under Search & sharing in the details panel.

Tip: Want it live later instead? Open the arrow next to Publish and choose Schedule…. See scheduling and publishing.

6. Connect your website#

Your document is published, but it only shows up on your site once your site asks PMKIN for it.

  1. Open API in the sidebar and create a delivery key.
  2. Follow the developer quick start to fetch your document with one request.

Connect your website walks through it in more detail.
